He Maketh Me to Lie Down in Green Pastures

The 23rd Psalm is probably the most read scripture at funerals. It is very fitting. I would like to turn your mind today from the grave to life. Great things are presented to the people of faith in this Psalm. Today we will examine the green pastures.

The green pastures mentioned are the provisions God provides for those who belong to Him (Psalm 37:25). Because He is our Shepherd we will never want for anything. He truly provides us with our every need (Matthew 6:8).

Also important to note is the lying down of the sheep. Those who recognize Christ as shepherd are at peace. A peace which passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Sheep at peace have no need to continually graze due to satisfaction through the work and grace of God.

The Lord is our Shepherd. If He leads you to the pasture you can be sure He is leading you to the place of peace, provisions and Life!

  3. ive been tought that this is a lesion on tough love. When a young lamb would continue to wonder off, the shepherd would break the leg of the young lamb and therefor make him lye down close to the shepherd, good grass, and the rest of the herd. the shepherd would then cary the lamb to the next pasture or watering hole untill the leg had healed its good to know God will do what it takes to keep us safe and close to Him

  4. Just to let you know your web site appears a little bit strange in Firefox on my notebook with Linux .
